Review:

This is a big ideas book. While there are characters to follow through the story, many are literally archetypes for a species. Lovers of hard science fiction will probably both love and hate this book, since it relies on some heavy hand-wavium in the uplift department, while going into great detail on how those uplifted creatures live and fight to survive.
Immensely enjoyable reading with plenty of ideas of chew on once the final chapter ends, with an opening for a sequel.
